Winston heads to Rudgwick

We're out and about this weekend attending Rudgwick Steam Fair. Come and see us there. You won't miss us because our bright blue life-sized Winston the Pig will be helping us man our stand. He's a hit wherever he goes!

Art comes to the farm!

A local arts student has found inspiration for her latest work by visiting Holmbush Farm World.Our most popular pig - Winston the woolly-haired Mangalitza -became the subject for a final year degree piece as student, Sophie Bain, completed her BA Hons in Character Creation and Technical Effects at the University of Hertfordshire.

Sophie, who lives locally and previously attended Richard Collyer Sixth Form College in Horsham, has sculpted a life-sized model of Winston in clay and then immortalized him in blue fibre-glass!

Sophie said: “My degree course has been all about creating props and models for the theatre, film and attraction industries and I wanted to make my final piece big and unusual. Winston’s bulk and unique features appealed to me as a fun project. I worked mostly from photos, building a clay sculpture over a polystyrene base so I could create a mould and then the final fibre-glass model.”

The sculpture is now being used to help promote the farm at local shows and events and will soon be installed as a permanent feature within the farm park itself.

Never mind the weather!

Let it rain, let it rain, let it rain! 

The fun goes on whatever the weather at Holmbush Farm. There's plenty to do indoors - or if you're young enough to still love the wet stuff just check out the fun one rain-loving visitor had recently with an overflowing gutter!! 

Her mum, Nicola, said: "We've spent many happy days at the farm and held about six birthday parties there but I think this rainy day visit was one of the best yet, despite the weather!!!" Come splash with us soon!

We love it when there are special events down on the farm and today we have Steve from Animazing with his incredible snakes and spiders, not to mention the adorable Dudley - his friendly parrot. Our little foal, Tabatha, is growing up fast. She loves meeting our visitors and coming out of the animal barns for a munch on the grass. Check her out with her mum, Trixie.

Steve from Animazing has been on the farm today - amazing!

Steve's been keeping exotic mammals, reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates for over 25 years and has a wealth of knowledge and experience to share. The kids loved interacting with his collection and handling the animals. They learnt a lot in a completely safe and secure environment. He'll be back in June and July if you missed him today!
